Note
Humphray Robert: Although born in Vidlin he seems to have worked for many years in the Skerries (1851 census) and in particular on Bruray (1861, 1871 and 1881 census). He may have run the island shop. In 1891 we find him across in Lindburn West Yell, where he died.
He was married twice - first to Catherine Sutherland (1806-1865) whom he married on Whalsay on 20 Nov 1848, aged 35. A year after Catherine's death he married Barbara Williamson, who was 27 years younger than he! They had eight children, the last of whom was born in 1883, when he was 70.
